Media Manager
The Media Manager is used to create and edit media files. Media files are used with various I/O device components (such as disks and tapes). Components may use media files with specific formats that CEF does not recognize. Often these files are simply images of physical media. CEF media files are also images, but are prefixed with a header that defines the layout of the image. The Convert button can be used to alter the media file between a CEF media file and a raw image. The size indicator is the total number of bytes in the file.
The data can be viewed and/or edited in "cooked" or "uncooked" mode. In uncooked mode
the image data is simply a stream of data bytes. In cooked mode, the data is interpreted
in terms of a given data format (such as ANSI Tapes). CEF32 provides a plug-in architecture
that allows for a variety of supported data formats. These plug-ins are selected via the
File Format drop-down list. The one selected will determine additional options on the
dialog.
CEF32 comes with the following Media Manager plug-ins:
Binary (generic)
Tape image
ANSI Tape
DOS-11 Tape
The Close button will close the current file. The Open button will open the file whose name is in the Filename edit box. The Create button will create a new file with the name in the Filename edit box. The Edit Media Info button brings up the Media Info dialog which allows you to view/modify the CEF Media header.
